USN-8092-1: Sudo vulnerability

A local privilege escalation vulnerability exists in Sudo due to an incorrect return code check when dropping privileges to run the mailer, allowing an attacker to potentially gain administrator access. The vulnerability affects Ubuntu 25.10 (sudo package version 1.9.17p2-1ubuntu1), 24.04 LTS (sudo package version 1.9.15p5-3ubuntu5.24.04), and 22.04 LTS (sudo package version 1.9.9-1ubuntu2). It is corrected by updating to sudo package versions 1.9.17p2-1ubuntu1.1 for Ubuntu 25.10, 1.9.15p5-3ubuntu5.24.04.2 for Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, and 1.9.9-1ubuntu2.6 for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
