An attacker could possibly use these to compromise the system. This update corrects flaws in the following subsystems: ARM64 architecture; Cryptographic API; GPU drivers; I2C subsystem; Network traffic control Update instructions After a standard system update you need to reboot your computer to make all the necessary changes. Learn more about how to get the fixes. ATTENTION: Due to an unavoidable ABI change the kernel updates have been given a new version number, which requires you to recompile and reinstall all third party kernel modules you might have installed. Unless you manually uninstalled the standard kernel metapackages (e.g. linux-generic, linux-generic-lts-RELEASE, linux-virtual, linux-powerpc), a standard system upgrade will automatically perform this as well. The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following package versions: Ubuntu Release Package Version 20.04 LTS focal linux-image-5.4.0-1131-fips – 5.4.0-1131.141 FIPS Updates FIPS-140 certified package with security fixes. Ubuntu has released USN-8200-2 to address multiple vulnerabilities in its FIPS-certified Linux kernels for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, including a high-severity flaw (CVE-2026-23074, CVSS 7.8) and a medium-severity flaw (CVE-2026-23060, CVSS 5.5). The vulnerabilities affect multiple subsystems, including the ARM64 architecture, Cryptographic API, GPU drivers, I2C, and network traffic control, and could allow an attacker to compromise the system. A system update and reboot are required, and due to an ABI change, third-party kernel modules must be recompiled and reinstalled.
