Cloud Security , Security Operations , AI/ML Google Cloud unveils AI-powered security strategy to combat evolving threats April 23, 2026 Share By SC Staff (Adobe Stock) As reported by The Register, Google Cloud is embracing an AI-driven approach to cybersecurity, emphasizing the need to use artificial intelligence to defend against AI-powered attacks. This strategy was a central theme at Google Cloud Next, where the company announced new security services and products designed for threat detection and agent management. Google's strategy centers on deploying an "agentic fleet" of AI agents to automate routine cybersecurity tasks at machine speed, overseen by human experts. Key announcements include three new preview agents: a Threat Hunting agent to identify novel attack patterns, a Detection Engineering agent to find and create new security detections, and a Third-Party Context agent to enrich security workflows with external data. The Triage and Investigation agent, announced previously, is now generally available. Additionally, Google is enabling customers to build their own security agents using its platform. The acquisition of Wiz further bolsters Google's capabilities, introducing an AI Bill of Materials (AI-BOM) to secure AI-generated code and integrating security scanning directly into developer workflows. The Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform aims to provide AI governance and access management for these agents.
