The music streaming giant confirmed it was investigating the issues users were reporting. The Islamic Cyber Resistance in Iraq-313 Team has claimed responsibility for the widespread disruption, stating they launched a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack against Spotify's servers. This attack allegedly aimed at revenge for the death of Imam Khamenei. The outage began around 12 p.m. ET, with thousands of users reporting problems. While offline music playback reportedly continued to function, the app and web player were inaccessible for over two hours before services were restored. This incident follows a similar DDoS attack by the same group targeting Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu, which disrupted their web infrastructure and services.
